The Weekend Preview

After a flurry of PBR action worldwide over the past few weeks, there are just the two events on US soil to focus on in this edition of the Weekend Preview.

The 25th PBR: Unleash the Beast

The 25th PBR: Unleash the Beast tour rolls into Atlantic City, New Jersey for the first time in 15 years.

Three Australian Cowboys feature in the two-day event commencing at 9am on Sunday and will be live on Ridepass from the Boardwalk Hall. Those wishing to listen live to Championship Sunday will need to set an alarm with action kicking off at 4am on Monday.

Nathan Burtenshaw (Coonamble, NSW) enters the weekend in 21st spot of the PBR World Standings and has drawn well for the opening night of competition. Burtenshaw has drawn the rider-friendly Blue Crush from Broken Arrow Bucking Bulls. Keen eyes will note that this is not same Blue Crush that the 24-year-old faced in Tulsa. This Blue Crush has given up two qualified rides from five outs on the Premier Tour this year. Ramon de Lima recorded an 82.5 point ride in St Louis while Dakota Buttar was awarded 84.5 points in Columbus. The bull is generally around to the right with a solid kick and good rhythm. If Burtenshaw can keep his feet down, he should get a score on the board.

World number 35 Lachlan Richardson (Gresford, NSW) will face Mickey Mouse from Deer Prairie Creek Bucking Bulls in Round 1. I have not been able to find any information on this bull.

Lawton will be opening night opponent for Cliff Richardson (Gresford, NSW). This bull is unridden, turns back to the left with good speed and has been putting up solid bull scores. The 5G Farms bucker can produce a powerful kick out of the chutes which usually brings riders unstuck but I am going to side with Richardson here. To my eye, Lawton possesses a similar style to Blossom from Brandenburg Bucking Bulls here in Australia. Richardson holds a 3-0 record against Blossom with scores upwards of 87-points so I think he can adapt and win the matchup. After a 0-for-3 weekend in Springfield, the 27-year-old will be hungry to get a score on the board and improve on his 39th spot in the PBR World Standings.

The draw for Round 2 will be available late on Sunday.

Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour

The Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour will get our weekend of PBR action underway Live from Portland, Maine.

Round 1 of the Portland Chute Out will be featured on Ridepass from 10am on Saturday morning. The second night of competition will also be live on Ridepass from 9am on Sunday morning.

Fraser Babbington (Gisborne, NZ) sits 41st in the world and was the first alternate for the Premier tour event in Atlantic City. Babbington gained a start following the withdrawal of Jess Lockwood but has elected to remain in the Portland draw. The 31-year-old Kiwi has drawn Jazzy from Mike Miller Bucking Bulls. This is another bull that I have not been able to find any information on.

When the Round 2 draw is released I will provide an update.
