Lawson Nobbs (Moura, QLD) was the only Australia bull rider that competed in PBR competition this past weekend.
The 22-year-old entered PBR Touring Pro Division events in California and Arizona and turned in some handy results which saw him move up several places in the PBR World Standings.
On Friday, Nobbs competed at Clovis, California where he took on the previously unbeaten Whiskey Truth from Flying U and Cindy Rosser in Round 1. He became the first rider in the PBR to make the whistle, as the two combined for an 85 point bull ride. The score was good enough to make it back for the short-go tied for fourth.
Hawaiian Bond from Flying U and Cindy Rosser was Nobbs’ Championship Round draw. The bull had been covered six times in 33 outs and has been to the PBR World Finals. Hawaiian Bond won the matchup in 4.31 seconds and put up a 43.5 point bull score.
The buck off left Nobbs in a tie for fifth place behind event winner Chase Outlaw who was the only rider to finish the event 2-for-2.
