The penultimate weekend of PBR action for the 2019 calendar year has been run and won. Let’s take a look at the winners.
2020 PBR Australia Monster Energy Tour
On Saturday night it was Missourian Brady Sims who took full advantage of the bracket-style competition to win the 2019 Tamworth Iron Cowboy in front of a capacity AELEC Arena crowd.
Brazil’s Eduardo Aparecido finished second on 2-for-3 riding and he also won the aggregate event.
2019 PBR Canada National Finals
Lane Mellers was the lone Australian to qualify and he headed across the Pacific for his second visit in just over three weeks.
In Round 1, he bucked off at 7.88 seconds courtesy of Catch of the Day (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls). The bull turned back into his hand but reversed late to unseat him to the outside for 42.5 points.
Tom Petty (Skori Bucking Bulls) got the win over the Mundubbera cowboy in Round 2. The bull turned back to the right at a slow tempo but with loads of power, bringing Mellers unstuck at 2.75 seconds for 42.5 points.
In the final long round, the 20-year-old went up against Broken Trigger (Skori Bucking Bulls) and it was a familiar result to his Round 1 buck off. He was down at 6.77 seconds after the bull changed direction and went away from his hand after the initial few spins to the right for a 41.5 point bull score.
Ney York’s Daylon Swearingen came from the clouds to take out the Finals Aggregate with a 4-for-4 performance and jump from No. 4 to No. 1 and win the 2019 PBR Canada National Championship.
2019 ABBI Australia Heritage and National Finals
Australia’s best young bucking bulls converged on Tamworth last Friday and they did not disappoint, turning in some rank performances inside AELEC Arena.
I will have a report up over the next day or two with all the winners.
Stay tuned for the final weekend of the season and I will have the PBR Rundown out on Wednesday as per usual.
