The Weekend PBR Wrap-Up – 16-Sep

2019 PBR Unleash The Beast Tour

Kurt Shephard travelled to Springfield, Missouri with a great chance to put his way into the top-35. The opening two rounds were full of ABBI Classic and Maturity Bulls which always makes for a tough event.

It was a 3.47-second buck off for Shephard in Round 1. Skyfall (Silver Creek/Winston/Melton Bull Co) left the chute strong and turned back tight to the left which moved Shephard back from his rope. The bull then followed it up with a leap forward to end the ride scoring 42.75 points.

Shephard took on JC’s Gangster (JC’s Dream Team/Jenkins Cattle) in Round 2. The bull turned back to the left and Shephard looked in good shape until around the 5-second mark where the got into some trouble. The clock was stopped at 7.72 seconds with the Atherton cowboy hung up for a second or two, but he got out of there unscathed.

Just 10 riders had a score on the board heading into the final day.

Big City (Plummer Cattle/Hart Cattle) would be Shephard’s third round bull. The bull backed out and entered a left-handed spin. Things got a little loose in the closing stages of the ride but the whistle blew in time and he was awarded 84.25 points. The score was enough to make the short round in 13th place as the final rider with a qualified ride. Shephard earned 5 points for his 7th place finish in the round.

Shephard was left with (Crescent City Bucking Bulls/Gene Owen)who had been covered just twice from 24 outs, but those two qualified rides both occurred last month for high-80 point rides.

Once again the bull backed out but this one went to the right. The buck off came at 3.62 seconds with marked 43.25 points.

It was the 25-year-old’s third Top-15 finish in a row, and he maintained his 41st place in the 2019 PBR World Standings with a further 5 points from the event aggregate.

Jose Vitor Leme took home the buckle after posting 92 points on Biker Bob in the short-go to finish 3-for-4.
