The PBR Rundown – 9-Oct

This weekend’s PBR schedule is almost a carbon copy of last last weekend with just a few changes of venues, but the importance of these stops increases more and more at the PBR Australia Grand Finals and PBR Finals Week approach.

2020 PBR Australia Monster Energy Tour

The tour rolls further up the Bruce Highway this weekend for another dual event stop, this time in the Sugar City for the 2020 Mackay Invitational.

The defending PBR Australia Bucking Bull of the Year POA Fully Locked & Loaded headlines the Championship Round once again for Dittmann Bucking Bulls. He has carried the last three winners of this event to victory and provided us with some huge ride scores in the process. He combined with Fraser Babbington in 2017 for 89.5 points, Ryan Storey in 2018 for 90.5 points and Brady Fielder in 2019 for 89 points.

As we have seen at each stop since the restart, each rider will face a bull in the long round with the Top-8 returning for a Championship Round. A maximum of 160 points will be available towards the 2020 PBR Australian National Standings across the afternoon and evening sessions.

Defending National Champion Aaron Kleier remains second in the 2020 PBR Australian National Standings but gained plenty of ground last weekend after posting a winning result and a third-place finish in Bundaberg.

The door is ajar for a change at the top of the leaderboard, but No. 1 ranked Lachlan Richardson will be eager to re-establish some distance between himself and the field with a strong outing.

Mount Isa’s Jake Curr recorded his best weekend on tour last weekend with a third and a sixth place finish across the two events in Bundaberg last weekend, and he finds himself sitting fifth in the current year standings.

Heywood’s Sam Woodall and Barcaldine’s Jackson Gray are two young cowboys who are very much on the rise, and they will be hoping to consolidate their spots inside the Top-10 with strong performances in Mackay.

No. 12 ranked Braydon Wellby was very impressive in his return to PBR Australia competition last weekend, and we can expect the Townsville bull rider to make another leap up the standings leaderboard this weekend.

This week we welcome back Tamworth’s Lachlan Slade who has been on the sidelines with injury since January this year.

Check back early on Saturday for The Morning Line for some predictions and highlight matchups, or you can find it on the PBR Australia website from mid-morning.

2020 PBR Velocity Tour

Mackay bull rider Ky Hamilton once again features in the Velocity Tour event draw. After picking up a runner-up finish in Event 2 last weekend, the 20-year-old continues his drive towards qualifying for PBR Finals Week.

We will see another two events in Wyoming over the weekend, but in the first performance, Hamilton will open Section 3 against Pepper Dust (Dakota Rodeo / Chad Berger / Lacey Scott).

This bull has been competing at Touring Pro Division events but hasn’t been setting the world on fire with an average bullscore of under 40-points in his three trips. Just one score of 77 points has been recorded.

Here is the daysheet for Event 3 in Casper.

The daysheet for Saturday night’s Event 4 will be released following the Friday event.

2020 PBR Unleash the Beast

There are no Australian riders appearing in the Premier Series daysheet.

You can view the daysheet for Tulsa here.

Stay tuned to Ride The Rage for coverage and a full wrap up of the weekend’s action early next week!
