The Final Wrap

Before I get into this weekend’s Final Wrap, just quick reminder that we have midweek PBR Touring Pro action from Pendleton, OR.

The event starts on Tuesday afternoon AEST and will conclude on Wednesday and I will pass on any updates via my Social Media channels.

Kiwi Fraser Babbington (Gisborne, NZ) has joined Australians’ Cliff Richardson, Lachlan Richardson, Lachlan Slade and Justin Paton in the USA for this event.

PBR Canada Touring Pro Division

Our Aussie Riders kicked things off in Canada on Friday with the Celebration for the Two Bit Nation PBR Canada Touring Pro event in Mcgrath, Alberta.

With his third-place finish in the event, Lachlan Richardson (Gresford, NSW) moved to Number 1 spot in the Canadian National Standings.

On a night where there were only 4 bulls covered, Richardson made the whistle on Friday Night Blues from X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle with a textbook ride that was scored 83.5 points by the judges in the long round.

It was a rough night for Lachlan Slade (Warwick, QLD) and Justin Paton (Nebo, QLD) who did not trouble the judges after coming down before the whistle in Round 1.

In the Championship Round, Richardson was down early at from Catch My Drift (Two Bit Bucking Bulls / K Rose Ranch) who put up 44 points in his 2.5 seconds buck off. Paton made it back to the short-go on time, but Chaba (Hy-Kyk Ranch) got the better of him in 3.8 seconds.

The 25th PBR: Unleash the Beast

It was a rough event for the Cowboys of the PBR’s Premier series with only 28 qualified riders from the 138 outs (Including the 15/15 Bucking Battle) across the three-day event.

Cliff Richardson (Gresford, NSW) joined Nathan Burtenshaw (Coonamble, NSW) and brother Lachlan Richardson in Springfield, MO for his first event at the highest level.

The Richardson brothers were both down early in all three rounds of competition after having to contend with some tough draws.

Burtenshaw however, was able to cover his Round 2 draw Heartaches & Grease from Pritchett Ranch and Melton Bull Co. for 86.25 points.

The 24-year old made it back to the Championship Round on one bull but was well down in the draft order. Hostage (OK Corralis/Gordan/D&H Cattle Co) was Burtenshaw’s ‘choice’ and after some chute troubles, the bull put up a massive 45.75-point bull score in the 1.97 second buck-off.

The 12th place finish earned him 35 points which move him up three spots into 21st on the PBR World Standings.

PBR Australia Monster Energy Tour

Back on home soil now where it was a local cowboy who took out the PBR Australia Monster Energy Tour event in Mackay.

PBR Veteran Ryan Storey (Mackay, QLD) produced one of the rides of the season in the Championship Round to hold off Budd Williamson (Ayr, QLD) and Mitchel Paton (Nebo, QLD) to score his first event win since 2015.

PBR Velocity Tour and Touring Pro Events

No luck for Lachlan Slade in Wilkes-Barre, PA on the PBR’s Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour this weekend. The 24-year-old was down in 1.51 seconds from a bull called Gold Digger from Championship Pro Rodeo.

The results from the Touring Pro Division event in Fredericksburg, TX are also through. It looks as though Mackay’s Ky Hamilton elected not to ride in the event.
