The Final Wrap – Burtenshaw and Richardson both improve position

The 25th PBR: Unleash the Beast Tour

As I reported yesterday, Lachlan Richardson made a great 86.5-point ride to finish sixth in Round 1. Nathan Burtenshaw had a fast buck off but both riders looked to have ok draws for Round 2 in Milwaukee.

Lachlan Richardson was the first of the Aussies out in Round 2. He faced Down Draft but the bull had him down early at the 4.53-second mark.

Richardson’s 86.75 points from Round 1 looked good enough to make it back to the Championship Round on 1 bull and it was, entering the draft in the thirteenth spot.

Nathan Burtenshaw was out in Section 2 of the Round and he combined with Lucas Oil Sky High for 86.25 points. This was the first time this bull had been covered in PBR competition.

Burtenshaw’s score was good enough to finish second in the Round, collecting 60 world points. It was also enough to get the 24-year old back for another Championship Round.

Championship Round

Burtenshaw entered the Championship Round in the fourteenth position, drafting the unridden Star Flight (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) while Richardson selected Old For Days from K-C Bucking Bulls and Spark-lin Acres with the preceding pick.

Burtenshaw had no luck in the Championship Round with his buck off coming at the 2.4-second mark of the ride. Star Flight was awarded 42.75 points for his out.

Richardson was also down early with Old Fort Days winning the match in 4.05 seconds and remaining unridden. The bull score was an impressive and well-deserved 44.5-points.

Burtenshaw collected a total of 65 points in Milwaukee while Richardson took home 25 of his own.

After entering the weekend tied for 26th in the PBR World Standings, both riders improved their position in the run down to Vegas. Burtenshaw now sits in 24th on 972.5 points with Richardson in 25th on 927.5 points.

I think the points earnt this weekend by both riders on the 25th PBR: Unleash the Beast Tour has well and truly sealed their spots at the PBR World Finals in November. World number 35 Marcos Gloria remains on 700 points.
