While most of the Aussie PBR riders are back home and competing in Mount Isa this weekend, we still have a few blokes to cheer on in North America.
Nathan Burtenshaw gets another crack at the PBR’s Premier Tour, Lachlan Slade returns to Canada and Josh Cavanagh heads to the Touring Pro event in Texas.
Edit: Earlier this week, Kurt Shephard was in the Goliad Touring Pro draw but was removed from that event late yesterday. He was then added to the Unleash the Beast Tour draw for Tulsa after I published this article this morning! I have added his matchup to the preview.
For event times, check out this week’s PBR Rundown.
PBR Unleash The Beast Tour – Tulsa, OK.
In Round 1, Nathan Burtenshaw will take on Mad Child from K Bar C Bucking Bulls and Joe & Nina Webb. This bull has appeared in PBR Competiton nine times with qualified rides recorded. In this past two trips, riders have scored 85 and 86.25 points. These scores came at the Green Bay event just before the summer break. Mad Child will turn back to the left and has excellent timing.
Kurt Shephard will make his first appearance on the Premier Tour since Anaheim in February in 2018. He goes up against Concealed Carry from Rocking R Bucking Bulls in the opening round, who leads the ABBI Classic Standings. This bull has been covered four times in his 28 out career with just two of those coming in PBR Competition. Cody Nance was 88.5 at this event last year and Tanner Byrne was 86.25 in Round 1 of the Finals last season. Concealed Carry doesn’t have a regular trip and has loads of tricks.
Here is the Daysheet for Night 1 in Tulsa.
Both of our Aussie cowboys are out late in Round 2 which suits most of us with the 4:45 am AEST start time.
Burtenshaw will go up against Crazy Times from Hart Cattle Co, Hale and Randy Wood in Round 2. We have seen this bull a bunch of times this year and if you can make it out of the chutes in position, riders generally go on to post a mid-to-high 80 point range this season. Crazy Times now comes from the left-handed delivery, where is first look is usually to the left, but he does prefer turning right. Burtenshaw is in doubt for this round with a knee injury.
Night Sweats from Plummer and Hart Cattle Co. will be the opponent for Shephard in the second long round. This bull has been ridden three times in his last four outs on the Premier Tour. Riders have posted scores in the upper end of 80-point range. Night Sweats should be around to the left as soon as the gate cracks and doesn’t tend to stray too far from the box. Shephard should be excited about this matchup as it looks to suit him down to the ground.

PBR Touring Pro Division – Goliad, TX.
Josh Cavanagh will take on an unknown bucker from H&D Bucking Bulls in Round 1. He will go up against Smegma.
Check out the Daysheet for Goliad.
PBR Canada Touring Pro Division – Elnora, AB.
Tamworth’s Lachlan Slade is the lone Aussie in Canada this week, and he will face Ferdinand from Two Bit Bucking Bulls in his long round matchup. I have been unable to find any information on this bull unless it is one of the bulls of the same name that has been transferred between contractors.
