There are just the two Australian riders competing at PBR events in North America this weekend.
As you may have read in multiple articles this week, No. 25 ranked Nathan Burtenshaw suffered an injury at the Global Cup last weekend after making the whistle in Round 3. The Coonamble talent announced via social media that he would have scans on Friday to determine the severity of the damage to his right shoulder.
Unfortunately, we have seen the last of No. 57 ranked Brady Fielder on the Premier Tour for the time being as the tour continues it’s transition from the 2019 standings to the current Top-35 riders. We will see the Clermont bull rider fighting his way back at the Velocity Tour level in the coming weeks.
Check out the PBR Rundown for all the event times and coverage details.
Sunday – PBR Unleash The Beast Tour – St Louis, MO.
World No. 19 Aaron Kleier heads to Missouri in excellent form following his 2-for-3 performance at the Global Cup. The Clermont talent will be hoping to keep his 2020 riding percentage trending upwards with it now sitting at 43.24%.
Kleier will be the second rider to nod in the opening round, and his opponent will be Crazy Rein from Phenom Genetics and Sankey Pro Rodeo. We have seen this bull twice so far this season. He has bucked off both of his challengers mid-ride and averaged a bull score of 41.75 points. There isn’t too much to like about his trips. He will be to the left and into Kleier’s hand, but he has no tempo and has some dirty tricks.
Sunday – PBR Velocity Tour – Hampton, VA.
Lawson Nobbs has taken a couple of weeks away from the competitive arena and has slipped to the No. 88 ranking in the world. The Moura bull rider will be hoping to snap an eight bull buck off streak in Virginia.
In the final out of the first section, Nobbs will take on Freakin Wicked from Davis Rodeo Ranch and Fogle. This bull has been around many years now and had 33 trips in the PBR. He has given up six scores, but he has dusted the last 19 riders to climb aboard, with some handy names in the list. This bull can turn back in either direction, but he prefers a left-handed spin and that will be right into Nobbs’ wheelhouse.
Monday – PBR Unleash The Beast Tour – St Louis, MO.
Kleier has drawn Hammerhead Blu from Dakota Rodeo – Chad Berger, Clay Struve, MAGA Cattle and Roper Angus in the final out of Section 3. We have seen a lot of this bull over the past twelve months. Just two riders have made the whistle in thirteen trips, and both were left-handers. This bull can get distracted when he leaves the chutes and can be a bit wayward, but generally, he prefers a left-handed spin.
Stay tuned for the Weekend PBR Wrap-Up, which will be out Monday following the conclusion of the event in St Louis.
