2020 PBR Australia Grand Finals – Night 1 Wrap-Up

The Friday session of the 2020 PBR Australia Grand Finals was dominated by Gresford’s Lachlan Richardson, who went 2-for-2 on Friday night to trim Aaron Kleier’s lead in the standings to just 29 points.

Two rounds of competition went into the books on Night 1 of the event inside the Townsville Entertainment Centre.

Here is how it all unfolded:

Round 1

The first round of the night was taken out by Kurt Shephard, who posted a brilliant 86-point ride into his hand aboard Bucksnort (Wallace Bucking Bulls). The Mareeba cowboy picked up 20 points and moved himself up to third place in the PBR Australia National Standings.

Lachlan Richardson pegged back some ground in the race for the Gold Buckle when he combined with Annihilation (Brandeburg Bucking Bulls) for a fast spinning 84.75 points. The second-place finish earned the Gresford talent 15 points which closed the gap to Kleier in the standings to just 49 points.

Moura’s Lawson Nobbs wound up in third place in the round with an excellent ride away from his hand aboard Freckles Brown (Wallace Bucking Bulls). His ride score of 84.5 points moved him up five the standings to 14th place.

Defending PBR Australian National Champion Aaron Kleier finished in fourth place in the round after he gritted out 84.25 points on Bad Moon (Dunne Bulls). The Clermont talent picked up 8 vital points towards his standings total to keep Richardson at arm’s length.

The judges marked Lachlan Slade 83.25 points in the very first trip of the round aboard Top Deck (Kleier Bucking Bulls).
