State pride will go on the line this Saturday night as the first ever PBR Australia Monster Energy Origin kicks off inside the ICC Theatre, at Sydney’s Darling Harbour.
It will be mate against mate as the best bull riders from New South Wales and Queensland will battle it out over three rounds of competition. The team who records the highest aggregate total will be crowned the inaugural PBR Origin Champions.
In the opening two rounds, all eleven riders from each team will face off against one bull each. The score from each 8-second ride will be added to both the team and individual cowboy’s aggregate totals with $10,000 and 610 points towards the PBR Australian National Standings up for grabs across the two long rounds.
The top four riders from New South Wales and the top four riders from Queensland will then go head to head in a bonus round with the team accumulating the highest aggregate points total taking home the PBR Origin shield. A further $15,000 will be on the line in this round with up to four riders sharing in the spoils.
The rider with the highest aggregate total will take home the lions share of the $40,000 in prize money that is on offer as well as the title of ‘Cowboy of Origin’.
The ‘Cowboy of Origin’ is also eligible to receive a bonus of $5,000 if he can finish the PBR Origin with three qualified rides.
The event winner and placegetters will receive a portion of the 755 points available towards the PBR Australian National Standings with 365 points also up for grabs towards the PBR World Standings.
Check back on tomorrow as we dive into the teams named to represent New South Wales and Queensland.
