2019 Mildura Invitational Preview

This weekend’s inaugural 2019 Mildura Invitational kicks off six straight weekends of PBR Australia action. The cowboys of the Monster Energy Tour will compete in northwest Victoria for the very first time on Saturday, 26 October.

The action will begin at the Mildura Recreation Reserve from 7:00 pm ADST (6:00 pm QLD). This event will not be featured on RidePass.

Make sure you visit the PBR Australia website for all the ticketing and venue details.

Last Year

This year will be the inaugural running of the event so we will crown a new Champion.

Event Format and Points Available

Nineteen riders will contest the 2019 Mildura Invitational with a maximum of 200 championship points available over the two rounds of competition.

The cowboy with the highest aggregate score at the end of two long rounds will take home the Champions buckle and 400 points towards the PBR Australian National Standings.

The Field

The race for the 2019 PBR Australian National Championship looks to be down to four riders.

Check out the Race for the Finals!

Defending Aussie Champion Aaron Kleier was a winner at the last Monster Energy Tour stop in Queanbeyan earlier this month. He leads the pack into Mildura with a 780-point lead over Rookie sensation Brady Fielder.

Fielder has all but wrapped up the Rookie of the Year competition after recording an Australian-best seventh event win for the season last month in Mackay.

Lachlan Richardson is ranked third in the country with Cliff Richardson close behind in fifth place. The Gresford bull riders need a strong result in Mildura to remain in the hunt for a Gold Buckle.

2018 Rookie of the Year Lane Mellers has climbed up the National Standings and into sixth place after covering six of his last seven bulls in PBR Australia competition.

Nathan Burtenshaw has returned from competing in the USA and finds himself on the bubble for a Grand Finals berth.

The Bull Pen

Reigning Australia Stock Contractors of the Year Throsby and Russell Bucking Bulls will supply the bulk of the Mildura Invitational pen.

We will also see buckers from the John Gill & Sons string as well as a bunch of bulls making their PBR debut from McPhee Rodeo Company and Morgys Cattle Company.
