20-May Weekend Wrap-up

It has been a lean week with no PBR Australia events scheduled but Lawson Nobbs and Lachlan Richardson flew the Aussie flag in PBR Canada’s Iron Cowboy earlier today in Quebec City, Canada.

With some handy riders in the draw including 3-time PBR World Champion Silvano Alves, 2017 PBR World Champion Jess Lockwood and the defending 2017 PBR Canada Iron Cowboy Derek Kolbaba in the draw, the format was, quite simply, outlast your opponent. The Top 8 qualified rides from Round 1 progressed to Round 2 where the event would change to a bracket format. The draw would once again be trimmed to 4 riders for Round 3 and the Final Round would feature to head-to-head matchup to crown PBR Canada’s Iron Cowboy.

I was a good night for Lachlan Richardson who rode All Business (Two Bit Bucking Bulls/Hy-Kik Ranch) for 84.5 points in Round 1 to progress to the next round of competition. Despite a buck off in Round 2, the 22-year-old progressed on time to Round 3 where he bucked off and Mr. Legit (Vold Rodeo/Prescott) was eliminated by Canadian Brock Radford who recorded a qualified ride. Richardson’s 1-for-3 night was good enough to for 3rd in the event and 30 World Points. That moves the Gresford cowboy up 14 spots to now rank 69th in the PBR World Standings.

It was a tough night for Lawson Nobbs (Moura, QLD) who bucked off Another Black from Triple R Bull Company in Round 1. Nobbs remains 76th in the World Standings.

The event was taken out Brazilian Marcos Gloria who outlasted Brock Radford in the Final Round of the competition.
